It was realized that poverty bedeviling the youth with disabilities can be lessened and self sustain ability achieved within a relatively short period if disabled youth themselves are given the opportunity to determine their own courses of action.representing different types of disability came together to chart away forward leading the to the establishment of a unique initiative that focuses on young people with disabilities providing an environment for different types of disability to work together.
This strategy would ensure that the threats, experiences, needs, concerns and aspirations of the beneficiaries are met. Since then, KEDAN has focused its work at grassroot levels with a pilot phase in Kibera slums and expansion plans to cover all the regions in Kenya.
