KEDAN is both a service provision and implementing organization with emphasis on capacity building and advocacy to protect the marginalized youth with disabilities aimed at improving the socio-economic status of the poor disabled youth in the society. The organization is run by and for youth with disabilities in recognition of the need for a body that understands their concerns and would wholeheartedly seek to address the imbalances impairing their development that hitherto have been handled by people that are not knowledgeable of their needs.

Achievements:
In the period of our existence, we have been able to:

  • Bring together young people with different types of disabilities to work together towards reclaiming their rightful space in the society.

  • Prove that young people with disabilities are capable of leading their own initiatives and only require beneficial partnerships to excel in their work.

  • Initiate a program on behaviour change among youth with disabilities in Kibera slums towards reducing the risks of contracting HIV/AIDS.

  • Receive a courtesy visit from Her Excellency Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland; commissioner of UN Human Rights Commission and President, Ethical Globalization Initiative.
